Frequently asked questions
We are a locally owned and operated, insured, bonded, and accredited home watch company servicing Steamboat Springs community. We check your property and identify problems or potential problems that can occur while your property is vacant. We provide a physical presence that is not available through a remote alarm monitoring service. We can help with most requests you have by contacting us.
An alarm company remotely monitors entry into your home and smoke/fire alarms, but
they do not provide a physical presence or monitor potential problems that can occur
due to issues such as broken pipes/leaks, mechanical failures, mold, or pests. We
identify those problems or the possibility of their occurrence and notify you for guidance.
Homewatch Steamboat proudly displays the Accredited banner of the National Home
Watch Association. We have been vetted and approved to ensure we are trained, insured and bonded. We also subscribe to the NHWA’s Code of Ethics and follow industry best practices. Our owner is a Certified Home Watch Professional (NHWA).
We are not house sitters. We are trained, insured and bonded and our core service includes weekly or biweekly home visits where we follow a specific and mutually agreed upon checklist. We are typically in an average home for 30-45 minutes per visit and take great pride in making you home is safe and secure.
No, many duties of a traditional property manager fall under the Colorado Real Estate
Commission’s (CREC) definition of real estate activity, including leasing and
management of real estate for a fee, negotiating lease terms, and handling security
deposits and rental receipts. We do not provide these services or directly manage rental
or investment properties. Home Watch is a visual inspection of a home or property,
looking for obvious issues.
We strongly believe our services are reasonably priced for the value we provide. When
you compare the expense of problems that often arise in unoccupied homes with the
cost of our services, we believe we offer excellent value. We base our per visit price on
factors such as size/layout of a home, distance and unique requests. We will be happy
to provide a free home visit/consultation or give you a per visit estimate prior to any
service being performed.
No. We check your property, but we are not property inspectors. Property inspectors are
usually involved in the sale of a property to inspect the structure, plumbing, electrical
and heating and air condition systems. Home Watch does visual inspections, looking for
obvious problems or potential problems.
